Oneplus 8 The Killer Flagship: News, Specifications, Design, Pricing & Launch Date
For years Smartphone industry has been one of the most competitive industries where innovation and advancement isn’t the only part and parcel of tech-era but the research and analysis of audience and competitors is also integrated. Within the giant mobile market of Apple, Samsung, Vivo, Oppo and Sony, Oneplus also became one of the most prominent and an important player in the tech industry. Their ultimate goal focused on delivering better experience around smartphone.
With this Oneplus recently made an exciting announcement for smartphone admirers lining year 2020 with the upcoming Oneplus 8 series. Although rumors where set in market only few months after Oneplus 7T PRO launched. But with the recent Oneplus official announcement of the most amazing and hottest flagship is on its way, the Oneplus community is keen to experience those new advancements.
In an exclusive interview with CNET, Oneplus CEO Pete Lau confirmed Oneplus 8 the killer flagship is going to add three models in Oneplus series, Oneplus 8, Oneplus 8 Pro and Oneplus 8 Lite all in on 5G. Oneplus have been working on 5G technology since 2016, with a sheer commitment towards advancement to push 5G technology in global wide and with around USD 30 Million towards developing 5G research technology.
Oneplus 8 Lite
Being the base model this will acquire some upper and mid range specifications in order to compete with the low range phones of competitors. Oneplus is launching Lite model because of the pricing of Pro model which will not be easier for a regular user to buy. We can say Oneplus is entering as a premium category phones in India and to maintain the flagship affordable to a larger audience Lite has been twisted.
As per the leaks, Oneplus 8 Lite will comprise MediaTek chipset, first in Oneplus series as previously every model has the latest Snapdragon chipset. They might lower down things a little bit over the performance while the MediaTek Chipset 1000 processor is the fastest and smartest among the 5G chipset family. Oneplus Lite is giving a wide-view display of 6.4 inches (1080 X 2400) with 90Hz refresh rate speed as seen on the Oneplus 7T. The Smartphone will comprise a triple camera setup, a 48 Megapixel SONY IMX586 camera, a 16 Megapixel ultra-wide sensor, and a 12 Megapixel telephoto lens along with a punch-selfie camera of 16 Megapixel with SONY IMX471 in the top-center.
Wrap charging is something Oneplus has ruled on from the beginning; same as Oneplus 7 PRO it will have a warp charging speed of 30W with a battery backup of 4000 mAh. With such specifications and 5G technology this might be a bit costly which could be roughly around Rs. 35,000/- to Rs. 40,000/-. Although in India price may vary as per the final launch as India is an important and bigger market.
Oneplus 8
Oneplus 8 is the mid range model with standard specification between both Oneplus 8 Lite and Oneplus 8 Pro. As per the sources Oneplus 8 will comprise of Snapdragon 865 chipset along with 5G support network. Other than Oneplus 8 Lite, this will have a 6.5 inch (1440 X 3140) AMOLED Curved Edge Display with a topnotch 120Hz refresh rate speed. The standard model has a punch-hole selfie camera of 32 Megapixels with SONY IMX616 sensor. The Oneplus 8 will have three sensors at the back a 64 Megapixel (f/1.6) with SONY IMX686 primary sensor, a 20 Megapixel ultra wide (f/2.2) secondary sensor and a 12 Megapixel telephoto (f/2.4) lens.
Other than Oneplus 8 Lite this has a warp charging speed of 50W with a battery backup of 4000 mAh. These standard and high-end features of Oneplus 8 will roughly cost around Rs.38,000/- to Rs. 42,000/- depending on the variant. These are tentative prices which can vary as on the launch date.
Oneplus 8 Pro
Oneplus 8 Pro is the high-end model among the Oneplus 8 series. The name states itself, a top-class model with top-class features in order to compete with the phones like Samsung S20 & iPhone 11 Pro. This phone is slightly bigger and better, as it has a 6.7 inch (1440 X 3140) AMOLED Curved Edge Display with 120Hz refresh rate speed. Oneplus 8 Pro will perform much faster with its Snapdragon 865 chipset processor with Adreno 650 GPU and 5G support network. The front will be equipped with a 32 Megapixel punch-hole selfie camera with a SONY IMX616 sensor. We know that Oneplus always try to enhance and bring something new and it’s for the first time in Oneplus history where they gave Oneplus 8 Pro model an extra notch with a Quad camera setup. In this setup, Pro will include four cameras, a 64 Megapixel (f/1.6) primary sensor, a 20 Megapixel ultra-wide (f/2.2) secondary sensor, a 12 Megapixel telephoto (f/2.4) lens, and 3D TOF camera.
Oneplus 8 Pro will have a wrap charging speed of 50W with a battery backup of 4500 mAh. These top-notch features will surely make it a pricey deal. This model will roughly cost around Rs. 50,000/- to Rs. 60,000/- depending on the variants.
It will mainly comprise of two variants of 8GB RAM with 128GB storage space and 12GB RAM with 256GB storage space. Both of these storage variants will work at UFS 3.1 speed which adds up a score. One plus is also working on Oxygen OS features for 8 series, to provide a better interface and efficient performance. Even for the first time, they are going to cater to a major drawback of wireless charging in the Oneplus 8 series. This feature will only be present in Oneplus 8 and Oneplus 8 Pro with an unimaginable and really fast speed of 30W wireless charging. As per the recent leaks, Oneplus is also going to get an IP68 certification for their new Oneplus 8 flagship.

The reported schedule launch date is around mid-April (Mostly 15th – April 2020) for these amazing Oneplus 8 flagship models. Although it will be held online due to the COVID-19 outbreak which has as well affected the originally planned production which might affect the availability (Depending on the future course of events).
